Società Benefit

Part of our work goes back to the city.

Catil is a Società Benefit (Benefit Corporation): the commitment to produce a common benefit, alongside its business, is written into its articles of association — it is not a campaign. It is still a rare choice in the lagoon: we are one of 80 Benefit Corporations in the province of Venice and — as far as we know — for now the only one in lagoon logistics. In practice it means two things: making our fleet and crews available, on dedicated terms, to a small number of non-profit cultural initiatives that move around the lagoon, and a contribution to a local research body. A consortium born in the lagoon and raised here owes a natural debt to the city where it works.

Support for culture

The fleet, also for the city that hosts it.

Between 2025 and early 2026 we supported, on dedicated terms, a few of the city’s cultural initiatives. It is not a service from a catalogue: we choose the projects to support ourselves, case by case.

Artworks, from an island to the centre (2025). Transport by water of artworks from a lagoon island to a historic venue in the heart of Venice: a delicate move, exactly the kind of operation our fleet exists for.

Cinema on the water (2025). Transport support for a non-profit film programme in the lagoon, bringing screenings and performances onto the water, enjoyed from your own boat or from a floating platform.

Emerging art (January–February 2026). Transport for an exhibition of works by emerging artists, an international group show hosted in the city.

Support

A contribution to research, from next door.

We make a financial contribution to VIDH — Venezia Institute for Digital Society and Human Development (a non-profit), a multidisciplinary research centre on the impact of digital technologies on society. We don’t name our clients: VIDH is the one organisation we choose to mention anywhere on this site, and we do it for a specific reason — to widen the circle of those who can support its work. Anyone who’d like to know it, or contribute, starts here: vidh.eu ↗

A note

No plaques, no rhetoric.

We do not recount these activities to show them off. We put them here because the form we chose — Società Benefit — requires us to account, each year, for what we do beyond profit. This page is also that: a report, kept spare.
