The name says it all, and almost no one reads it in full. Catil began as an artisan consortium of the lagoon: not a haulage firm that calls itself premium, but a rooted operation that, over decades of work, learned the canals, the tides, the docks and the palazzi of Venice. "Artisan" isn't nostalgia: it's the difference between those who know the water and those who merely cross it.

The roots go back to the 1960s.

Catil's roots reach back to the 1960s, as an artisan consortium of the lagoon: 1985 is the year it became a company, not the start of the trade. From that backbone — internal lagoon transport, goods, building sites, islands — we built everything else. In recent years the same fleet and the same crews began serving a different world: artworks, film productions, pavilions, cultural institutions. The trade is the same — getting to its destination what cannot go wrong — applied to those with the most to lose.

We have grown stronger in recent years.

The Catil group has consolidated its fleet and skilled workforce through several acquisitions: Transport Lines, a Venetian operator whose origins date back to 1892; Oscar Trasporti e Noleggi; and the licences of Valle Trasporti. In 2026 all the companies merge under Catil Servizi into a single structure.
